Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom teeth are the four permanent molars located in the back of the mouth. Some people have no wisdom teeth and some have more than four, although it is rare.

If your wisdom teeth are happy, healthy, have grown in completely and are positioned properly, that means you can probably take care of them with normal daily dental hygiene practices. If that’s the case, you don’t need to have your wisdom teeth removed.

If, on the other hand, your wisdom teeth didn’t grow in all the way or are not positioned correctly, it may make more sense to have them removed by your dentist or oral surgeon.

Extraction of wisdom teeth can be done with local anesthetic in the dental office or in more complex cases, you may be referred to the oral surgeon to have them removed with IV sedation.

If you think you need to have your wisdom teeth removed, or you have any questions about the process, don’t think twice about getting in touch with Brightside Dental Clinic in Saskatoon. We’re here to help.

Nitrous Oxide

At Brightside Dental Studio we have nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, available as a mild sedative to use during your dental appointments. Nitrous oxide is frequently used to ease mild to moderate anxiety and can help to reduce pain. It is delivered using a small mask (hood) that fits over the nose and it is administered for the whole procedure to provide a calming effect.

At the end of the procedure, oxygen is administered to reverse the effects. Laughing gas is commonly used for younger patients, but is also available for use by anyone who requests it.
